GITEX 2025: What Actually Matters vs. What Will Be Loudest

The Spectacle and the Substance

GITEX Global in Dubai is one of the largest technology events in the world, and this year's edition will be dominated by AI. Every booth will have an AI story. Every keynote will reference AI transformation. The noise level will be extraordinary.

For enterprise decision-makers attending, the challenge is not finding AI at GITEX. It is finding AI that matters for their business amid a thousand vendors who have all discovered the word "agentic."

What Will Be Loudest (and Mostly Irrelevant)

  • Humanoid robots. They will be everywhere. They will wave, dance, and have scripted conversations. They are impressive engineering and largely irrelevant to enterprise AI strategy for the next three to five years.
  • "AI-powered everything." Vendors who added a GPT integration last month will present themselves as AI companies. The density of meaningless AI claims will be the highest of any event this year. Bring skepticism.
  • Metaverse and Web3 AI crossovers. Still being pitched. Still not delivering enterprise value. Politely move to the next booth.

What Actually Matters

Regional AI infrastructure announcements. Watch for data center expansions, sovereign cloud offerings, and GPU-as-a-service platforms launching in the GCC. The infrastructure buildout in the Gulf is real and consequential. It determines what kinds of AI workloads can be run locally, which matters enormously for regulated industries.

Government AI procurement signals. UAE and Saudi government entities are among the most ambitious AI buyers in the world. Pay attention to the government sessions, the procurement frameworks being discussed, and the partnerships being announced. These signals forecast where billions in spending will flow.

Enterprise case studies from the region. Skip the vendor pitches. Find the sessions where actual enterprises (banks, telecoms, logistics companies) discuss what they deployed, what worked, and what failed. These are rare and invaluable.

Talent ecosystem developments. Look for announcements about AI training programs, university partnerships, and talent visa initiatives. The talent pipeline is the long-term constraint on AI growth in the Gulf, and the investments being made now will determine the region's trajectory.

GITEX is not a place to buy AI solutions. It is a place to understand the regional AI ecosystem's direction. Go for intelligence, not impulse purchases.

How to Get Value from GITEX

Before you go, write down the three most important questions your AI strategy needs to answer. Spend your time at sessions and booths that address those questions. Skip everything else, no matter how impressive the demo. The most valuable thing you can bring back from GITEX is clarity, not a bag of brochures.
